Our Approach to ESG
At Invest People Group, our approach to Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) is closely connected to what we do every day: helping people develop practical construction skills, supporting pathways into employment, and contributing positively to the communities in which we work.
We are committed to responsible business practices that consider our impact on people, communities and the environment.
Environment
We recognise our responsibility to minimise our environmental impact and encourage more sustainable ways of working.
Our approach includes:
-
Reducing unnecessary energy use, travel and waste across our operations.
-
Recycling and reusing materials wherever practical within our Construction Academy.
-
Using digital communication and resources where appropriate to reduce paper and unnecessary travel.
-
Encouraging responsible use of construction materials and helping learners understand the importance of sustainable working practices within the industry.
-
Looking for opportunities to use practical training projects to create something with a lasting purpose and benefit.

Social
Creating opportunities for people and communities is at the heart of Invest People Group.

Our Learners
We work with adults from a wide range of backgrounds, helping them develop the practical skills, recognised qualifications and confidence they need to progress towards employment and successful careers in construction.
We are committed to:
-
Making construction training accessible and inclusive.
-
Understanding individual learner needs and removing barriers to participation wherever possible.
-
Providing appropriate support and reasonable adjustments.
-
Creating safe, supportive and respectful learning environments.
-
Promoting equality, diversity and inclusion throughout our programmes.
-
Helping learners develop not only technical skills, but the wider employability skills and confidence required for the workplace.
Our Communities
We believe construction training can create an impact that reaches beyond the individual learner.
Where possible, we provide opportunities for learners to put their developing skills into practice through projects that deliver wider social value.
One example is our Hartlepool mini libraries project, where learners at the Invest People Group Construction Academy designed and built mini libraries for community hubs across Hartlepool. The project enabled learners to apply practical construction skills while creating something of lasting value for local communities.
Through partnership working with The Recruitment Junction and NC Group, we have also supported individuals facing barriers to employment, combining construction training with wider employability support to help create pathways into sustainable employment.
We also support community initiatives and grassroots organisations, including sponsorship of local junior football.
These activities are an important part of our wider commitment to using skills, training and opportunity to make a positive difference.

Supporting Employment and Economic Growth
As a specialist construction training provider, we also contribute to the wider economic and skills agenda.
By working with adults, construction employers, colleges, funding partners and other organisations, we help develop the skilled, work-ready people the construction industry needs.
Our programmes support individuals to move towards sustainable employment while helping employers access people with relevant, practical skills.
Through partnership working, we can also provide additional support for people who may face barriers to training and employment, helping to create more inclusive pathways into the construction industry.

Governance
We are committed to high standards of quality, integrity, safeguarding, compliance and accountability.

Our approach includes:
-
Maintaining robust quality assurance and compliance processes.
-
Protecting the welfare, safety and personal data of our learners, staff and partners.
-
Maintaining appropriate safeguarding and GDPR standards.
-
Working responsibly and transparently with colleges, funding organisations, employers and community partners.
-
Upholding ethical business practices, human rights and our commitment to preventing modern slavery.
-
Working with reputable partners and suppliers who support our standards and values.
-
Continually reviewing and improving the quality of our training and learner experience.
Invest People Group also proudly holds the Department for Education’s matrix Standard, recognising our commitment to providing high-quality information, advice and guidance alongside our specialist construction training.
